Why I started a FOOD blog!

Ever since I was young, I've enjoyed smelling the dim sums steaming away in the steamer. Mom and dad had been cooking enthusiasts for as long as I know them. Even now, when we get the rare opportunity of eating out together, one of them would remark about what went into that particular dish and try to duplicate it at home. I have since developed this habit :)

Some people say they stood on kitchen stools and watched their moms cook. But me, I cooked out of necessity. My parents saw how 'chicken hand duck leg'(translate to chinese if you know what I mean) clumsy I was and BANNED me from the kitchen for my own sake. But when I joined my missionary community, cooking was part and parcel of everyday life. It was in India and the Philippines that palatable (and later also delicious) food came out of my time spent cooking/baking/experimenting. And of course my community gets to critique my creations. :) Now mom and dad has reinstated me back to the kitchen and enjoy what I have been baking/cooking/steaming/creating whenever I go back to Singapore for my annual 'pilgrimage'.

So while I am a missionary, I am still very much a food enthusiast. I share my cooking adventures with friends and very soon they asked me for recipes. As my friends know, I almost never follow the recipe exactly. I call them 'highly modified food creations'. So go ahead and enjoy the food adventure!

To cook is to love.
